• Invited by University IT services (UITS) to serve in the evaluation of the new developed UAEU Mobile services portal phase 2, March 2011.

Community outreach

• Served as consultant and project member for the Cardio Vascular Diseases Prevention Program (CVDPP) Project, Zayed Military Hospital, Abu Dhabi (Project Phase I Fund 79,500 AED).
• ITMarathon Co-chair, May 2011. ITMarathon is a national competition to encourage students to stimulate their IT knowledge and compete in different IT areas. More than 300 students participated from most of schools from all over the UAE. Further detail can be found on http://itmarathon.uaeu.ac.ae/. My responsibilities as co-chair include the following:      

  • Task assignments and scheduling.
  • Followed up with different committees main responsibilities.
  • Led the IThinker competition and evaluate all the submitted projects (60 projects)
  • Managed the Web design Contest and form the judging committee.
  • Contributed to the judging committee.
  • Resolved management and technical issues
  • Etc.

• Local arrangement Co-Chair, ITMarathon 2010.
• Co-Chair of the 9th National Programming Contest (25-26 March): NPC is a major national student event bringing together top university students from all around the UAE and increasingly other Gulf countries to compete in problem solving and computer programming puzzles. The National Programming Contest follows the international model and standards advocated by ACM (the Association for Computing Machinery). NPC’09 hosted 35 teams participated in the contest, among these teams 2 groups from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, and 2 groups from Sultan Qaboos University.   • Helped in the development of the NPC website and ensure the continuous updates of the website.
  • Selected judging committee members including chief of judges, and follow up with their problem set preparation.
  • Invited the steering committee members to check the NPC setup and the local arrangements.
  • Suggested the NPC program and discuss it with the NPC committee members.
  • Followed with the technical setup and purchased all the needed equipment.
  •  Gave the opening speech, managed the judging Q&A session, presented the competition rules, and organization of the contest
  • Helped in testing an configuring the underlying environment and participate in problem set testing on the contest environment.
  • Made sure that all the required software and tools are installed and configured on all computers in both contest and judging room.
