The square is located in an area of Dubai known as
Deira, which forms one part of a two-section city divided by the creek.
It is considered by many to be the commercial heart although this has
changed recently with the emergence of new high-tech shopping centers.
It remains, however, a major hangout and commercial center for the
lower to middle class shoppers. It can be reached via two major roads
and is close to the creek. Also from the square a number of key-markets
can be reached such as Dubai’s old Suq, Naif Market and the Gold
Suq.
