VISUALIZING THE DA VINCI CODE

In this studio we explored the theme of 'concealment in architecture' through the design of a secure depository facility. We tackled this problem through a series of readings and exercises which aimed at understanding this theme and eventually developing a concept to be used in designing the building. The steps taken in developing this concept included:

A reading of 'The Da Vinci Code' by Dan Brown in which a secure depository facility is described in detail. Our aim here was to identify the architectural features described by the writer. In particular the experiential quality of passing through layers of 'security' was examined.
