Dr. Mohammad Mehedy Masud is a Professor at College of Information Technology (CIT) at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). Prior to joining UAEU in January 2012, Dr. Masud worked at the University of Texas at Dallas as a Research Associate for 2 years. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of Texas at Dallas, USA, in December 2009.

Dr. Masud’s research interests include machine learning, Big Data mining, healthcare data analytics and decision support, data stream mining, and intrusion detection using data mining.  He has published more than 60 research articles in impact factor journals including IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE), Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS) journal, and high ranked conferences including IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM). His is the lead author of the book “Data Mining Tools for Malware Detection” and the principal inventor of a US Patent. During his service at UAEU, he secured more than 8 Million Dirhams research grant as PI or Co-PI from different funding organizations including Information Communication Technology (ICT), UAE. Dr. Masud served as the lead guest editor of Journals, program Co-Chair of conferences, and in technical program committees of many international conferences. He delivered Keynote speeches and Tutorials in numerous international conferences and workshops. He has received several awards for his scholarship and service contributions, including prestigious academic award for research excellence from UAE Department of Education & Knowledge (ADEK) in 2017, UAE University merit excellence award in 2019 and 2020, College research excellence award from College of IT in 2018 and College service excellence award from College of IT in 2019.

Dr. Masud has taught a number of courses across diverse areas and levels; from entry level courses to specialization courses, from data mining and related courses to security courses. Also, He taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses, namely, Object Oriented Programming, Security Principles and Practices, Cryptographic Algorithms and Protocols, Data Structures, Senior Graduation Projects, Business Intelligence, Secure Software Design and Engineering, Machine Learning, Secure Mobile Code, System Analysis Modeling and Design, and Software Security. He contributed to course and curriculum development at different levels and intensities, from content revision to complete development, from syllabus development to curriculum proposals.

Dr. Masud is dedicated to supervision and mentoring of students for their development and excellence. He has mentored many graduate students including MS and PhD students. He is currently the supervisor of two Ph.D. and three M.S. students, and co-supervisor of two other Ph.D. students. Two Ph.D. students and four M.S. students already graduated under his supervision. Dr. Masud also supervised more than twelve senior projects at CIT, three of which won the best senior project award. Since 2013 he mentored computer programming teams at CIT, which greatly improved their performance at the Gulf Programming Competition (GPC) in 2014 (5th place), 2015 (5th, 8th and 9th places) and in 2016 (4th place).
